cteno4
Yep nice lines, fresh but not over done and some care to lines and curves on it, not all blah beziers. The up curve at the ends helps make the longer tram float some visually and not feel like a brick moving along the ground almost a bit boat like. Seats look comfy. jeff Link to comment
bill937ca
The seats look better than over here and in Europe. Link to comment
cteno4
but its public transportation, it has to be uncomfortable! 😜 jeff 1 Link to comment

railsquid
Dunno if the article was updated before I read it, but it says "2023年3月の開業を目指す", i.e. scheduled for opening in March 2023. Link to comment
bill937ca
That is what I understand. There is an LRT line in Toronto, the Crosstown line, that has taken years to build. But it has a underground exchange with a couple of subway lines. There is a lot of testing do do with the line and equipment. Issues can arise with track profiles and wheel profiles, just ask Ottawa about there line. Link to comment
railsquid
Hah, I had the pleasure of staying in a room right next to the construction site for one end of the Ottawa tunnel, in 2014 IIRC. Looks like it was opened in 2019. Link to comment

railsquid
Fortunately my travel plans for the next week do not involve Ottawa :D. Maybe next year if I'm lucky. 1 Link to comment
Tony Galiani
Apparently the new Ottawa light rail is a mess. Here is a fun video (though there is some R rated language in the song) about the situation. From 30 Squares of Ontario: Ottawa's LRT continues to inspire songs Impressive riff on a Johnny Cash song. Enjoy, Tony Galiani 1 Link to comment

bill937ca
LRT derailment accident on the 3rd day of test operation Unable to turn at the curve in front of JR Utsunomiya Station, no injuries on the sidewalk | TBS NEWS DIG In the early hours of the 19th, near JR Utsunomiya Station, there was an accident in which an LRT (=next-generation streetcar) derailed while it was being tested for the start of operations. According to Utsunomiya City, around 0:30 am on the 19th, the LRT (= next-generation tram), which was being tested near the east exit of JR Utsunomiya Station, could not turn around a curve and the first and second cars of the three-car train derailed. At that time, it collided with the pole separating the road and the rail, and the front part of the vehicle was damaged. No one was injured. Utsunomiya City is proceeding with restoration work and investigating the cause of the accident. The LRT is aiming to open in August next year.
