That line seems to attract animals, IIRC there was an incident with some kittens trapped under a car not so long ago.

I think a lot of people are aware of the Moscow commuter dogs.  Read a pretty detailed article a few years back that categorized the dogs into four groups base on distance from the city center and their interactions with people.
