The Keihan Railway has painted Ōtsu line train 701-702 in a retro livery in celebration of the 55th Anniversary of the old 80 series trains

Hopefully they pay the same sort of attention to poor old 82, she seems to be in a very sad and sorry state of decay the last time Mr Google went driving by, it's a pity that they never converted a set over to 1500v from 600v but then again you have to be able to justify the expense in doing so and it's probably not worth it.

One thing about the Keihan Ishiyama-Sakamoto Line is Keihan's willingness to paint the 600 and 700 Series EMU's in special liveries. Small wonder why this line is a favorite of Japanese railfans, though I do think too many railfans hanging around near Hamaōtsu Station can be a issue at times.

Gate guard 82 has long since been removed from the Keihan yard ... (30th November, 2015 to be exact) ... here's a video of her departure (I believe she went to a railway museum)

Nice to see that she didn't suffer the same fate of 356-357 that were put aside for preservation but ended up having to be scrapped due to heavy corrosion of the carbodies. Even though the footage is at night time it looks like they have done a lot of restoration work, all of the rust has been removed and she has a nice glossy sheen on her. Edited by Das Steinkopf
