TimWay4
Hello, So this year me, my partner and two of our friends are going to be spending our holiday in Tokyo, we went to Japan last year and spent some time travelling around, during our trip we visted: Kinosaki Tokyo Osaka Hiroshima koyasan Okunoshima And possibly some other places I have forgotten, but this year we decided to just visit Tokyo as travelling is expensive and there is a lot to do and see just in the Tokyo area (as I'm sure some/most/all of you are aware) So this year we will be staying in Asakusabashi (we stayed there last year and liked it a lot) and we plan to visit the following places: Odaiba Nakano Akihabara Mount Takao Studio Ghibli Museum I was wondering just in case I'm able to if people could recommend any Train based places to visit? (i may be able to convince my non-train friends to do maybe one or two of them. I also plan on visiting train shops as much as I can, I know of the ones in Nakano Broadway (The Broadway being our reason for visiting Nakano) as well as Yodabashi and Tam Tam hobby in Akihabara. So let me know if you know of any train related activities or stores that I might be able to visit ^_^ Thanks Tim Link to comment
splifdfx
How many days will you be there ? Visit the Popondetta shops anywhere you go as you might find a used set that you want. At least check out the one in Akihabara which occupies a whole little building. Shop list here : http://www.popondetta.com/map.html About the Ghibli Museum, do you have bought your reservations beforehand ?The museum was closed for renovation for a while and reopened only recently, which means lots of people wanting to go.Check out the procedure here : http://www.ghibli-museum.jp/en/ticket-information/ Not far from Asakusa is the small Tobu Railway Museum : http://www.tobu.co.jp/museum/en/Further up north, but still just about 30min train is the Saitama Railway Museum : http://www.railway-museum.jp/en/ Link to comment
railsquid
For 2nd hand stuff the Hobbyland Pochi stores are very attractive. How about the Ome Railway Park: http://www.ejrcf.or.jp/ome/english/index.html Link to comment
TimWay4
Hello, Splifdfx, yes we found out you should (or are supposed) to buy them about 2 months before hand so we have ordered them, need to check if they have arrived. We will be the from Sept 29th - Oct 14th. also thanks for the information on Popondetta and the museums. Ome Railway park looks good as well so might see if i can convince people to go there especially as we will have traveled further to get to Mount Takao. I'll look into Hobbyland Pochi, secondhand stuff in Japan seems to look and work as new so i love buying secondhand stuff over there :) Link to comment
