Having worked for the South Shore Line (electric railroad running east from Chicago, Illinois into Indiana) and having run trains through the street I can tell you all that it is a chore. I've had a UPS delivery truck pull out in front of my while I was running a gravel train. The best one was one afternoon, with an 8 car train, I had a lady drive right along side of me, then speed up, go to the next intersection, get directly in front of me and stop to turn left. I had a sense that she'd do something like that and grabbed the brake as soon as she started to pass me. I came up right behind her with the air horn blasting, and I stopped at her bumper. She stuck her hand out the window and you know the rest.
