Jcarlton
Akihabara News is doing a series of short videos of the Yamanote Line station chimes and put up a post about Akihabara Station with some links. I did a post on my blog about it late Friday and one of the posts that Akihabara News Linked to had this picture in it: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/07/Akihabara_Freight_Station_circa_1960.jpg Here's my blog post:https://theartsmechanical.wordpress.com/2016/08/13/a-short-tour-of-akihabara-with-some-history/ Well I never new that there was a large elevated freight station in Akihabara and I was curious as to where it was and what it looked like. The internet made discovering that a trivial and rather fun task. That is the power of the internet. https://theartsmechanical.wordpress.com/2016/08/14/the-power-of-the-internet/ The post has all sorts of stuff that I found out about the Akihabara freight station, right where that empty plaza is next to the current Akihabara station. 4 Link to comment
Sacto1985
Thanks for the links. The freight companies must have crossed their fingers that the lifts from the ground level to the track level at Akihabara Freight Yard actually worked properly. It also explains why the Chūō-Sōbu Line is so high off the ground at Akihabara. Link to comment

I don't think that this yard actually shipped very much out as it was mainly a receiving station for produce. 1 Link to comment
