mattdwnunder
Does anyone have a picture of a Wafu 35000 in service in the steam era in Hokkaido somewhere? From what I have been able to gather from other photos of Hokkaido based brake vans that they had a different window configuration (a shiny silver colour possibly stainless steel) due to the cold at the end of the steam era. kvp
What i could find by searching for this type and Hokkaido is that most is service photos have black window frames and white stairs and grab irons. Most preserved photos also show white window frames. The silver frame ones are probably aluminium. Many older passenger cars had old wooden frame and more modern aluminium frame variants. Changing the windows to metal frame and the doors to full metal with rubber window frame was apparently a common upgrade for many car types. http://www.google.hu/search?q=ワフ35000+北海道 Link to comment
