Sacto1985 Posted July 10, 2016 Share Posted July 10, 2016 Much of these two videos were referring to the revolutionary KiHa 80 DMU, the trainset that likely made it possible for JNR to tremendously speed up their time schedules for many long-distance trains, mostly because such long distance trains no longer needed to stop every so often just to take on water and more coal like it was required with steam locomotives. I saw this film before in the forum. Indeed, I remember BB commenting on the fact that the KiHa80's used on the Hatsukari service were less then stellar performers in the beginning.
