FastFranz
Ciao, From time to time I pop-up to show the little "railway modelling" I manage to carry on here. This time I focused on an Ivorian diesel loco. In real is an AMD GT26 with metric (1.000 mm) gauge. This model is, as far as I know, unknown to train modellers and first step has been find a "suitable donor model" that was, at least losely, resemble the "real" one. In the end I decided to go for an ALCO C630 (Atlas model - N gauge). The livery is extremely simple (and usually soaked in grime), then ...I ordered the decals in Italy (www.max.models.it ), a friend of mine took the envelope to Ivory Coast and eventually thsi is how I ended up. Enjoy!!! ;) Francesco PS: first image is the EMD GT26 i saw on duty in Abidjan, the two others show my models. 10 Link to comment
beakaboy
If the loco looks like that, I would like to see some of the rolling stock! Nice work on the model Link to comment
FastFranz
Ciao, Plans are to add a few, mostly used here (and extremely old) are tank cars and flat cars (carrying containers). I need to buy a few of them next time I return to Italy and then kitbashing them once back to Africa. Decals are ready so, hopefully, is only a matter of time ... Francesco Link to comment
FastFranz
Ciao, Time has - eventually - come to give my (an EMD GT26 kitbashed from an Atlas Model in 1:160 gauge) SITARAIL Ivorian loco something to pull. Since pulling “manganese-loaded” wagons from Burkina-Faso to Abidjan is the main task this railways has I kitbashed three coalporter wagons (Athearn) adding also a (I do not like it that much) a flat car loaded with two containers. I, simply, added SITARAIL logo and rail-numbers (on both sides) and weathered them a bit (or a lot should I say?). Greetings from Africa.
