Sascha
Just out of curiosity. I searched online, but couldn't find anything. If I would like to buy a Shinkansen, lets say the E6, how much would I have to pay? And how much costs the development of a Shinkansen, from the drawing board to the end product? Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
The cost of an e5 trainset is said to be the equivalent of 43 million dollars. The N700A trainset development costs plus spare parts comes out to equivalent of 47 million dollars per trainset. In general, the price of a Shinkansen trainset is in the 40~45million dollar range. 2 Link to comment
bill937ca
Do you mean a real train? Or a model? For N gauge models here are sources from dealers. Hobby Search ModelTrainPLus Link to comment
railsquid
A *used* Shinkansen may cost a lot less, I'm pretty sure JR Tokai were offering individual 0-kei cars for sale at around 500,000 yen when they were scrapping their fleet 10 ~ 15 years ago. 1 Link to comment

westfalen
Of course it's no use just buying the trains. You need somewhere to run them and that's where the big bucks go, building all those viaducts and tunnels. Link to comment
