bill937ca
The translated story says "wear of the rail is responsible". About 40 metres needs to be replaced. As it is special work it may need custom castings which take time. From the Nagasaki Electric Tramway Facebook page: Announcement of some suspended service continuity Due to the impact of the derailment accident in Kokaidomae that occurred on June 2, June 5 (Sunday) and 6 days (month) also will be suspended service part than the first train. Densha
In other words, the mentioned services will be suspended on 5 and 6 June. If all goes well, services will obviously resume on 7 June. 1 Link to comment

bill937ca
Transportation Safety Board issued a report January 17, 2017 on the four accidents at this junction since 2007. The cause was a rear truck wheel striking the guard nose during the turn on the R20 radius curve. https://scdn.line-apps.com/stf/linenews-issue-954/item-516424/33426a3f7218db1ae62f8508f2262d3e18b997ad.jpeg https://scdn.line-apps.com/stf/linenews-issue-954/item-516424/66904cdd4567283538a489c75b9196eed7d6467c.jpeg Starting in March 2017 this curve will be rebuilt, increasing the radius from R20 to R35. https://scdn.line-apps.com/stf/linenews-issue-954/item-516424/5a0d38623a7fefbca9457f1af263c2a110a6b146.jpeg Speed of 13 k/h was cited once as a partial cause, but the most recent derailment occurred during a 5 k/h turn, half the 10 k/h limit.
