Sacto1985
A YouTube just posted an excellent zenmen tenbou video of a trip on the Saitama New Shuttle rubber-tired train on a trip from Uchijuku to Omiya Stations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY6zkLsQcQE This is taken from the latest model train to use this route, the 2020 Series. 1 Link to comment
Ochanomizu
Hello, The interchange at Maruyama (12:00) is always interesting, but even now I cannot understand how the train is guided through the turn outs. Can anyone explain? 1 Link to comment
kvp
Horizontal guidance is provided by horizontal wheels touching the sidewalls of the guideway. For turnouts, there are smaller guide wheels (rollers) next to these that can be caught by U shaped guide rails that are engaged on one side only and could pull the vehicle to one side. This technology has two options, movable guiderails, when the rails move up and down to select between the two routes, while the other allows the driver to move the small wheels to select between fixed rails. The first is the more common. Link to comment
