scott
I need to find a medium-sized hotel (say 5 to 9 stories) that will suit our layout--it would need to look believable with European and Japanese trains, and not be the typical gee-isn't-the-Depression-cute Americana stuff. :-P Which also means that ryokan or onsen-related buildings won't work either--this will be the main hotel across from the largest station. If anybody has suggestions for good kits to try, I'd appreciate it. I'm also interested in card-stock and low-relief buildings for the narrower parts of town... Link to comment
disturbman
I allmost moved the thread... good thing I read it before acting. Medium size hotel? Are you ready to kitbash or scratch build a Capsule Hotel? Link to comment
scott
Nah, I want my passenger to be more comfortable than that. :-) Link to comment
disturbman
Doug (redracer) was making a kit of some Tokyo (chain) Hotel or something like it. You should check his blog. :) Link to comment
Guest ___
Nah, I want my passenger to be more comfortable than that. :-) LOL, this reminds me of a short Doctor Who story where The Doctor had a few hundred years between stops in the TARDIS so he built a model train layout. He also included AI in all his layout's people. While the Doctor was away from the layout, he forgot to shut the power off and the train derailed. the passengers at the station started to freak out that the train was late, and by late, like years in scale time. Bernard
I have the Heljan Leech Memorial Building (N Scale) which you could easily convert into a high rise Hotel. Here are 2 angles of it. Link to comment
scott
Thanks, Bernard--that looks like about a 12-story building (13 with the base!). Looking at that, I'm thinking that 6-7 stories is about as high as I want to go; maybe even just 5. I'm only going to be able to show part of a town, and I don't expect to have any really tall buildings, so a really tall hotel might not look right. Link to comment
disturbman
You can also use another building kit and "transform" it into a hotel. Like Doug here Link to comment
disturbman
You could also pick a look on this Flickr album, the guy is building a N scale Town and kit or kitbash available products. It might give you ideas. :) edit: for exemple that could be more or less a medium budget hotel anywhere in the world. Link to comment
