ToniBabelony
Hello all, Through Facebook, I received the notification from the Kannai based Shin-Yokohama Kikanku bar (新横浜機関区) that the master is organising a tour on the JR East Resort Express Yū: https://www.facebook.com/events/270616683273072/ The tour will be held on the 17th of July and runs from Nakayama (dep. 08:20) on the Yokohama line, to Yokogawa (arr. 12:15) on the Shin'etsu Main line, to the Usui Railway Cutural Village (entry tickets not included). The return way will feature a special run over the Tsurumi Freight line (Tsurumi - Kannai). If anyone is interested in coming along, I can also try to negotiate seats for you. Costs will be 10,000 yen per person (half for elementary school age kids). Personally, I immediately communicated this with my wife and opted for two adults and a 2 year old reservation. This train is one of my personal favourites for a very long time, so I think it's well worth the time and money. All seats taken. For those who don't know what the Resort Express Yū is: Next to being an endearing design, it's also a rare opportunity to ride both a group dedicated Joyful Train, as well as one of the few remaining 485 Series. Of course, I'll be giving a report on this trip afterwards! :D Edited May 11, 2016 by Kabutoni (a.k.a. Toni Babelony) 2 Link to comment
JR 500系
Thanks Toni san! That 485 is a beauty and sure hope to ride on! Being in Japan is so nice... Wished there was an event that allowed a ride on the Irodori or Nagomi! That would be cool to see! :) 1 Link to comment
