I just chanced upon this wonderful video of a guy who took 7 different overnight trains across a span of 7 nights 8 days!

There was a time when I would have done that.  A couple of times I travelled Brisbane - Sydney - Melbourne - Adelaide - Melbourne - Sydney - Brisbane by overnight trains, six nights on trains spending the day in each city between trains.  In those days railway employees got a free pass anywhere in Australia and I sat up overnight in coaches rather than pay sleeper charges so the whole trip cost me nothing.  These days I prefer hotel rooms if there are no sleepers.
