Hi guys. I was wondering if there is a video that shows you trip of the Tokaido Shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka, and if the is a youtube channel, with Zenmen Tenbou Shinkansen videos.

Since one can't see out the front from the passenger area on any model of shinkansen, I don't think you'll find any videos like this on YouTube.

And, the replies in this Yahoo Q&A forum post http://m.chiebukuro.yahoo.co.jp/detail/q11110976881 imply that no professional productions exist either, due to there being no space for a camera (not so sure about this), or due to JR Central not authorizing it, etc.

I'll look around more later tonight.

Well, I don't think that's true about the space.  Certainly they could get a small camera (and these days, it would probably be 4k anyway) in there if they wanted to.

In that Yahoo thread there are links to these videos, Tokyo to Osaka--at 6x actual speed.  I don't like this effect at all, but it seems like this is all there is:

I only scanned through the first two, but it looks like all 0 series rolling stock.  If it's true that JRC won't authorize any videos to be made, I wonder if this is really JNR era.  I suppose it could be, although I may have missed some 100 series trains, but then still it could be 1985 to early 1987.  Maybe someone else will be able to pick out some details to confirm or deny.

I don't think I ever actually saw Vicom's website before.  Thanks, several new items on the to-buy list :).  Anyway, I had a look through there, I don't see any shinkansen front view videos between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka.  There's this video made on a 300 series for example http://vicom.co.jp/mt/2012/02/4730.html, but that's between Okayama and Hakata, which is JR West territory.

The wikipedia page for JR Tokai in the addendum states that up to 2014 JR Tokai, unlike other railways, didn't license audio-visual productions (train videos, video games, etc.) to third parties.  Thus the lack of cab view videos for Tokaido shinkansen in the JR era.  There is also the supposed lack of space issue in N700 drivers cabs, but I don't know if that is really true or just an urban legend.

However, JR Tokai has always licensed model railway products.

However, with something like a GoPro or even today's very small digital 1080p camcorders (a lot of the modern zenmen tenbou videos are shot with these very mall camcorders), you could easily fit one inside the cab of an N700A  Shinkansen and at least do a recording of a trip from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka Stations.

Obviously not a camera issue for quite some time, it's a policy, business or legal issue that the train company is following, not space as the camera could be a high quality HD lipstick camera that sized attached to a small solid state recorder elsewhere in the cab.

I always just assumed Japanese shinkansens have monitoring cameras like these. Does anyone know?

searching on youtube: 新幹線前面展望 , I did find a few:

Hokuriku Shinkansen - Kanazawa to Nagano (JR West)

Hokuriku Shinkansen - Tokyo to Nagano E2 series (I've saved this on my cpu, and it has been sometime and still on youtube ~)

0 series ウエストひかり 356号 - Hakata Minami to Hiroshima
