I just saw this pic on Ompuchaneru.  The location of the photographer, the tilt/shift lens, the wrap on the cars, and the (current) lack of converstation in the thread  make it impossible to determine what these are.  The roof profile and the way the air conditioners are kind of embedded seem unique.  One of the up-coming luxury trains?

Judging by that last video this is a protective wrap of some sort, rather than the final livery.

How so? Look at the carriage numbers and the "Twilight Express" nameplate high up on the sides, also the numberboards. They look as though they've been shrink wrapped, which is what you tend to see if you apply a vinyl wrap over the top of raised components. Certainly not finished, but we'll have to wait until next year to find out what's underneath. It would be very classy if they go for the deep green and gold stripes of the old loco-hauled Twilight.

Also intrigued to see the KuMoYa moving them around with a knuckle coupler, guessing they can swap between these and Tightlocks depending on what needs moving?

All these trains comes out of the factory with protective wrapping.

If you have a look at the rooftop new the air conditioning units, you will see rooftop gear that is the correct jade green colour.

JNS forum member ayokoi just posted a video of a number of Twilight Express MIzukaze rail cars leaving the KHI assembly plant at Hyogo west of Osaka:

Ah, right, the base type would be KIHA87.  Any idea what 28-9 is in this image: http://news.mynavi.jp/photo/news/2016/03/30/585/images/048l.jpg .  I'll assume 28 is the year of Heisei, but what is the 9?

I think that's for September. I suppose it's scheduled to be operational by then, if not for revenue service. Apparently it is at Suita to have testing done as well as as have interior fitting done in the meantime.

I just checked the interior layouts. The middle cars look like good old sleepers and saloon cars. Except the double decker trailer, that kind of breaks the train in half with the duck under section. It has 4 service cars (2 half observation/crew, lounge and diner, 40%), which is ok for a luxury train and reminds me of some old european loco hauled consists with 3-4 twin sleepers per car and the diner/lounge car pairs. (one layout that it didn't use was the combined 3 twin sleepers + lounge in each car setup, often called saloon cars)

So, let's wait for the first interior photos and the two head cars...
