Welshbloke
Anyone with the Tomix Thomas N scale models might have noticed the "Thomas and Friends Minis" blind bag toys Fisher Price have been selling recently. Well, there's a new wave out which includes a "Brendam Bay Shipping Co." wagon. The underframes are pure toy, but the body scales pretty well against a Farish N open wagon. It's a bit shorter but the width and height are spot on. I'm therefore thinking that one of these plus a scale chassis (might try the Peco 9' wheelbase one as that will probably bring the buffers into line, the 10' Farish one was a bit too long) could have potential for anyone with N scale Thomas. The toys are £2 each here so it won't be that expensive a project either. Here's a photo of the unmodified wagon. Printing is decent enough, the other end is plain yellow but it won't show too much in a train of them: As they're blind bags you will need to look for the code "28" printed on the back of them, other codes have other contents. The front of the bag has "2016/2" in red, check for that as the previous waves had different contents for a given code. I don't think there are any other wagons and the locos are all completely unfeasible for conversion due to their cartoon proportions. I will probably convert the two I bought, then slip them into a normal N scale goods train and see if anyone notices! Link to comment
