Installation of electrical equipment for Hokkaido Shinkansen

With the opening of the line a few days away, an interesting short documentary/commercial by Meiden Corporation, which manufactures all the transformers and electrical substations for shinkansen lines. The first segment is the installation of a transformer inside the Seikan Tunnel. Later we see the substation at Shin Hakodate.

I like the little work train at the beginning.  What is that little snow plow/loco thing?

It's the same small work train that is available on HS, just someone bolted a plow over its hood.

It does look a little like the Greenmax kit with a plow.  Sounds like a fun project.

yes looks like a fun project. sort of looks like it might fall over on its nose with the big plow and the tiny loco.

 

The plow would be a great 3D part to print along with a tiny crane for the little green max locos. (hint hint tony)

The trick is that the plow partially goes around the motor so its center of gravity is between the axles.
