JR 500系
Dunno where to place this and didn't want to create a new thread just for this, so since we are on buildings: This is a nice video with some neat tricks into creating your own personal N scale buildings! :) 1 Link to comment
cteno4
Thanks! Nice sankei style layering. This is the way to do the high rise and many times you don't have to cut window holes as you can start with a center wall of clear acetate and put some vertical mullions with pin tape all the way down the building. Then glue small 3' or so high strips horizontally across at each floor level so you end up with alternating strips of wall and Windows. Cutting window holes is the nastiest task to do well and consistently. It's one place I find myself getting frustrated as your eye tends to find the one window just a tiny fraction of a mm off! JR 500系
Thanks Jeff for moving this to a new thread! I think it is a great idea to use stuffs you can find lying around, like Chocolate boxes and wrappers, to be used as commercial advertisement boards that are oh so common in Japan... Also, the clever use of that Green Max (assumed) building kit of that train front as a Railway model shop front is really neat! Now I need to find myself a building kit... Link to comment
katoftw
I'm going against the grain sorry. I'm giving top points for effort. But when next to Tomytec buildings, the end result is quite noticeable. And not in a good way. Link to comment
Robert46
Thanks for the video JR500.. although end result is not a favorite for realist modellers, but for me it's really nice information and will be very helpful though.. Thanks.. Link to comment
