velotrain
I was looking for images of Konan Railway, but what popped up on my screen didn't look like any of the previous photos I had seen of the Konan. I quickly realized that Google - in their inscrutable wisdom, had substituted the Konkan Railway in India. All of the images looked wonderful, but some of a railway line passing just in front of a high cliff with a series of waterfalls stood out. I learned that the largest of these is Dudhsager Falls, which is particularly spectacular during the monsoon season. Some of the motive power is also impressive, including extremely long DF units - check the engine on the passenger train halted on the long straight viaduct - must be a British-engineered line to allow them to run these. What's interesting is that it looks like they will stop the train to let passengers out for a photo op - you won't find that on Japanese or Western railways, and you just hope the single track line is protected. The Wiki article suggests that they no longer stop at Dudhsager Falls. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dudhsagar_Falls Here's a video of a veeery long passenger train at the falls - something like 27 cars and four engines. 1 Link to comment
