In Europe, is possible to change the type pretty easy, how is in Japanese/Kato cars? https://www.roco.cc/en/productsearch/0-0-0-0-0-0-0-003005/products.html i wish to buy some kato H0 cars but if i cannot couple them with others may be a difficult task thanks for the Help Alessio Link to comment
VJM
Just took a quick look at my Kato HO Hokutosei 24 series cars.... they use a proprietary close coupling mechanism combined with the coupler. It's not the European NEM swallow-tail type clip. About the best you can do is to swap out the Kato coupler for the Kadee #5 type family, or Tenshodo #8 replacement couplers. My TOMIX Twilight Express cars are already Kadee #5. I don't think you will be able to swap for the drawbar/clip type or the D-link/toilet seat type coupler. 1 Link to comment

VJM
Using the Kadee #18/#19/#20 type couplers means changing them on your European stock, rather than being able to change on the Japanese stock. This does give you a lot more flexibility. Yes, we call the D-link coupler "toilet seats" here in Australia. 1 Link to comment
