serotta1972
Ran some of my favorite Limited Express trains - the different faces of Japanese trains. 6 Link to comment
miyakoji
very nice, for whatever reason I really like the 251 series in the original Odoriko colors 2 Link to comment
serotta1972
Yes, I feel the same way and the reason I’m trying to unload the new color version. Link to comment
serotta1972
Have not had a running session in a while and really need to get back to having one at least once weekly so the trains get out of their boxes and spin their wheels more often. Well, I had to have one for my new acquisitions from my Japan trip and also previous shipments that I have had not run yet. I'd like to say that I have been a little more selective lately. I finally got to sit down and really admire the E353, E235, Seven Stars and Hello Kitty JR500 and oh man these are some great models. Of all 4, I was really just interested in the E353 from the get go but I eventually went and got the others and really glad that I did. 4 Link to comment
serotta1972
The colors on the E353 and E235 really pop and the purple stripes on the E353 changes shades depending on the view angle and the green doors on the E235 really stand out. Still not too keen on the front design though but can live with it. 3 Link to comment
serotta1972
The Seven Stars is just something else and the new Kato DE10's are very nice with really thin railings. 5 Link to comment

The railings can bend, and they are a wire that is quite unforgiving. I've broken one trying to straighten it out. Luckily, it still looks fine. 1 Link to comment
serotta1972
Oh yes, I don’t dare touch the ends with the railings or try not to anyway. But don’t they look great! 2 Link to comment
serotta1972
I almost forgot I also got the Odakyu 60000 so ran it with its sibling the 70000. One of the only disappointment on my trip was not being able to ride the 70000. These are some gorgeous trains, Tomix and Micro Ace represent. Now I need to order some TN Couplers, they are too nice to have Rapidos on them. 8 Link to comment
JR 500系
Yeah that GSE is horrible with that rapido couplers! Looks like a bear can jump through them! The Romance cars are amazing... they are what attracted me to Odakyu! 🙂 3 Link to comment
serotta1972
Not running trains but organizing them, love these bookcases. I hate it when I can't find or forget that I already own something. Edited June 16, 2019 by serotta1972 12 Link to comment

serotta1972
I did find 1 set of duplicates - I'm thinking it was intentional as it is one of my favorite trains and I recall the second set was a really good deal that I couldn't pass up. Link to comment
Kiha66
Wow, awesome collection Jr! And I thought I had too many trains! Link to comment

serotta1972
Running session with the Kato Twilight Express. Wow, and wow! I thought the Train Suite and 7 Stars were nice - this one tops the cake for me. I really didn't care for the prototype and when the model was announced but I thought I'd take a chance. The design grew on me and when I saw the model, I was blown away. Everything about it is just so elegant. This is one beautiful train and regret not seeking it out when I was in Japan earlier this year. 10 1 Link to comment
gavino200
I feel the same way. I wasn't sure I should have ordered it until I had it in my hands. Now I'm very glad. I haven't run mine yet, though. Waiting for Chrismahannakwanzika. What's it like in motion? 2 Link to comment
Pauljag900
I was a big fan of the old one but this blows it out of the water! Absolutely stunning👍👍😀 1 Link to comment
serotta1972
@gavino200 I commend you for your patience - it's a beautiful train standing still and more so in motion. I noticed this one seemed to be geared lower as at 100% throttle, it hums along but not flying around the track. You're going to love it. 1 Link to comment
JR 500系
Nice! I got the Kato Twilight Mizukaze too, and while I like it, I think I really liked the Tomix one more.. I'll create a thread on the K vs T on this one ~ 1 Link to comment
serotta1972
You have both sets? That would be cool to see a comparison review. Edited December 11, 2019 by serotta1972 Link to comment
serotta1972
Holy moly, it's been over a year since I posted a running session. My daughter requested we run some trains so I brought out her Thomas train and only HO Japanese train I have. 11 Link to comment
serotta1972
It’s been a while since I ran some trains. I thought I would start with one of my first Kato sets bought over 30 years ago and it ran flawlessly. Kiha 85 is one of my favorite trains and then ran some trains I purchased the last couple of years but have not ran. Oh the joy of playing with trains especially with my now 7yo daughter.
