SuRoNeFu 25-501
It seems that safety is still not the first one for many of Indonesians... Yesterday, one of former Tokyo Metro 05 series trains that transferred to KAI Commuter Jabodetabek, the 05-102F (2nd trainset of the whole 05 series), suffered fire accident just after leaving Serpong Station on its way to Tanah Abang station as train 1907 (ironically, train 1907 is the first train to depart from Serpong Station). The train caught fire when it was running between Serpong and Rawa Buntu stations, which the fire emerges from pantograph #1 of car 05-202 (positioned facing toward car 05-102). While the fire was successfully extinguished, however, a small part of the roof under the pantograph mounting position was burnt, which the result is in the following photograph: Because the fire consumes the roof and part of electrical devices positioned between ceiling and roof (as well as the air conditioner blower), the ceiling right under the pantograph was also consumed by the fire: As the fire consumed the ceiling, the burnt ceiling materials collapses and caused the floor to be affected by the still-burnt ceiling materials: This photo was taken just some hours after the fire was successfully extinguished, when the train was removed from service (possibly there would be some repairs, although it is likely that this train would be scrapped): All photographs are referred from this blog article (the blog is owned by Satoshi Takagi, a Japanese railfan that currently resides in Indonesia) Cheers, Arya 1 Link to comment
miyakoji
Too bad. Was the roof made of very light sheet metal? Link to comment
Robert46
Thanks for the news om Arya.. definitely not a good news for our commuter service.. TM05 is one of the nicest models with beautiful livery in the KCJ commuters fleet.. I understood that the train itself actually had already been retired in Japan but here we reuse the train to be fully operational with hectic schedule.. How many years do you think that KAI decided to use these ex-Japan trains until they are fully retired? Link to comment

Luckily, main traction equipments are still usable, so it seems that it can be repaired (though the wires and air conditioner blowers positioned right under the burnt pantograph are consumed by the fire) Too bad. Was the roof made of very light sheet metal? I don't know the exact material that used for creating the roof, but it seems that the roof uses materials that are flammable... Link to comment
