katoftw
The Yufuin no Mori is having a 5th car added. All new interior, seating, toilets, etc. Big windows like on the other Joyful DMUs from Kyushu. https://www.jrkyushu.co.jp/top_info/pdf/535/yufumori.pdf Guessing from the running schedule that it will be the Kiha 72. http://fukuoka-now.com/news/yufuin-no-mori-to-get-new-interior-boost-capacity/ http://ajw.asahi.com/article/behind_news/social_affairs/AJ201507140063 p.s. That is a 25% increase of awesomeness. Edited August 11, 2015 by katoftw 1 Link to comment
Ochanomizu
Hello, I notice it is already in the JR Train Seat Number Book, on p269. http://www.1999.co.jp/10329002 60 seats are added with extra Kiha 72(5) ... actually a 29% increase because car 1 = 58 seat, 2 = 58 seat, 3 = 32 seat, and 4 = 58 seat. Go from 206 to 266 seat. Car number: 博多駅 - Car 4 (58) - Car 5 (60) - Car 3 (32) - Car 2 (58) - Car 1 (58) - 別府駅 1 Link to comment
E6系
Hello Ocha, I also have the book, but didn't notice until now. Tonight I shall review. I wonder about extra 60 seat but same size dining car ... Link to comment
JR 500系
Oh.... A boxed compartmental car? Interesting... Is that a lobby of some sort by the buffet? I recall the buffet car used to be in car number 2... Link to comment
katoftw
Depending on if it was the Kiha 71 or 72, the buffet used to be car 2 or 3. I forget in which combination. One was car 2, and the other car 3. The new car is now what is car 4. Notice no doors? You have to access via car 3 or 5. Link to comment

miyakoji
I wonder why they chose to move it on temporary trucks. Just to reduce wear? Link to comment
katoftw
So the engine and gearbox aren't connected to the axles? Trucks may have had a higher top speed than the proper kiha equipment fitted? Edited March 16, 2016 by katoftw Link to comment
