jrcrunch
what are your average playing time? mine so far is max of 20 minutes reason i asked this 1. against wear, wheels and motor. 2. safety-- are these trains really safe? no fire or sparks could happen if we leave them running 3 hours continuously hmm how many watts do they consume? cteno4
We have run trains for hours at shows without issues. That being said we try to limit running time to an hour or so for any train and then switch off with another one. If well lubricated and not s lot of particulate matter on the tracks to suck up,mthe trains run fine for long times without issues. Of course there is some ware, but it's in the many hundreds of hours before you have things wearing out from my experience. Of course there can be breakdowns sooner, smutz sucked in and lubrication needs, etc. Power is pretty simple, p=I * e. So like 10v x 0.5 a. (Usually much less like .1-.3) or 5w max when running fast, probably more like 2-3w. Trains usually stay pretty cool and if they don't its a sign lubrication and/or cleaning is needed. Always thought of getting one of the spot laser temp gauges to check temps on the fly! Jeff 1 Link to comment
