yakumo381
Attached is a scan of three pre-digital photos I took in Japan in July 2002. I was travelling by road from either Tokyo or Yokohama to Ina City in Nagano. Now the question is, what mountain is this? I would like to think its Fuji-san but I am not sure as looks too small. Any ideas? Whilst digging through some other old Japan memorabilia, I have come across this A4 size flyer for the "Mimasaka Railroad Heritage" centre somewhere in Okayama (I think) - does this place still exist or what happened to it? miyakoji
The roundhouse is at Tsuyama Station: https://www.google.com/maps/@35.0536634,134.0000333,18zJapanese Wikipedia link: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/津山運転区#.E6.B4.A5.E5.B1.B1.E6.89.87.E5.BD.A2.E6.A9.9F.E9.96.A2.E8.BB.8A.E5.BA.AB I'm not sure who owns/administers it, the only link I'm finding is this one, for the 'Tsuyama Railway Preservation Society': http://tym-tetsu.net/ . It's not clear to me if it's a real group or someone's private page. Good pics of the area, though. There's also the Tsuyama tourist agency's website: http://www.tsuyamakan.jp/?=rail . There's a prototype diesel loco that's like a split between a DE10 and a DD51, the DE50. It's the only one of its kind. I'm not sure that it runs. a few vids: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMaKB__sC7c Apparently they're taking D51 2 that used to be at the Osaka Modern Transportation Museum As for the mountains, that's a tough one. It's all mountains up there :). https://www.google.com/maps/@35.8148248,137.9817258,11z Link to comment

bikkuri bahn
Yes it's Mt.Fuji. It looks different on the Yamanashi side from the Chuo Expressway, because the most famous views are from the Pacific Ocean side, where the prominence is more pronounced and the base is more visible. Once at Kobuchizawa Station a person from Kansai asked me what the mountain looming in the distance was. Of course it was Mt. Fuji, but from an unfamiliar angle. Sacto1985
Here's why you don't recognize Fuji-san: there's no snow on top. This was probably taken probably in summer during the climbing season. Link to comment
