Kkxzd
I've installed these kits into some newer sets and everything seemed to make sense, like it was built for it (although not perfect). But for these two shinkansens, I don't see how these go in the powered car, since it doesn't seem to have the right holder to keep the light module in place. How I am supposed to put this thing? (Pictures attached) I was thinking maybe it works to put it against the back of the car, but then do I have to glue it? Another problem I'm having is opening the front shinkansen 0 cars, the front doesn't seem to detach very easily and don't want to force it, any pointers are appreciated. (Also picture attached) Thanks! 1 Link to comment
Sascha
I have the same problem. Seems like nobody knows the answer. Link to comment
Bernard
Hi Klxxzd - It looks like you have the earlier model of the O series if I'm not mistaken. Does it look a little bigger than your other trains? If so you're going to have to do some modifications to the holder......the contacts are too high, you're going to have to trim them down so the light unit is flush, in your last photo its tilted. Don't glue in the light unit, but you can use Kapton tape to set the unit in place.....it's light and also great for insulating wires. Hope this helps. 1 Link to comment
Kkxzd
Are you having problems with the same models or different ones? With the shinkansen 500 I ended up "discovering" that the light device goes way to the bottom and the problem is that when the contacts get installed, it limits how deep the light can go. I think the intention might be that in this case the contacts have to go reversed and go "into the floor" (not sure how to explain it). In any case, I ended bending the contacts and soldering it with the light piece, that makes a much more reliable contact. BTW, in all cases I'm not very happy how these lights make contact, it's always in the edge of getting disconnected. I might go ahead and solder each one of them Regarding the Shinkansen 0, I found to that to open the first and last car I had to remove the tip, but in any case, I cannot open it. It seems like the lights of the car are stuck with the body and no matter how much (reasonable) force I make it doesn't come out. 1 Link to comment

Thanks, I figured that out yesterday as I just posted while you posted this it seems :) But the one in the picture is the 500, which one it goes way down it stays in place quite nicely, but the O is another story, I'm still figuring it out, will try that out.
