B Train Shorty build video

I built a pair of B Train Shorty coaches and filmed the process for Youtube, as there's almost no English-language content of them. Thought people might like to see! Here's part 1, part 2 should be easy to find from it:

Filmed in the back of my Mazda Bongo Friendee, mostly to demonstrate how few tools and how little space you need to assemble these kits. I've since fitted a powered chassis under the generator van to give locos hauling the train a helping hand, this works well unless the loco uncouples itself and then ends up ambling around pursued by its train. Well, until the train reaches a sharp curve, stops with all eight powered wheels spinning, then gets hit by the loco as it comes up behind on its next lap...

Nice video! Good insight into building a B-shorty! I think the most time spent was actually pasting he stickers on ~  :)

Thanks all. The stickers do indeed take the longest, in fact be grateful that I didn't video building one of the pairs of tankers as they take ages and usually need a combination of a magnifying glass and a light box to work out which of the half millimetre high japanese characters it needs!

I might shoot another two or three of my next builds - have another DD51 and motorised chassis on the way along with a pair of container flats, also a pair of Sanriku Railway DMUs (one will be powered for now with the other as a dummy).

At the moment I'm tinkering with a couple of the four-wheel motorised chassis in an effort to get them to run smoothly and stop growling or lurching. I have one which behaves almost perfectly so I know it can be done! They also seem prone to developing a fault whereby the stub axles attached to the wheels start slipping inside the plastic tube with the axle gear on, I'll get some liquid superglue later and try a tiny drip of that into the axle tube before reassembling them.

Another video, this time it's a DD51:

Cut off before I started wrestling the stickers, as they took another three minutes which put it over the 15min limit.

Next up will either be a Kintetsu 30000 Vista Express or a pair of container wagons, depending on which arrive first.

In both cases I'll build half of the set on camera, as I don't think people really want to see me doing the same thing twice! Might also get a brief demo of the Kato CV1 pack into one or the other as it's perfect for B Train Shorty use.
