Sacto1985
A YouTube user recently filmed this zenmen tenbou video of the still-open section of the JR East Yamada Line from Morioka to Miyako: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_Spsx3bHKw Note that most of the route is highly mountainous. Also note that Miyako Station is also the south end of Sanriku Railways' Kita-Riasu Line (you can see the Sanriku three-car DMU trainset waiting at the station). P.S. Can anyone identify the model DMU this video is taken from? 1 Link to comment
EF65 1100
That's probably Kenji, a converted Kiha 58/28. When it was first converted it was called Salon Express Arcadia. The whole train consists of 3 cars, all green-cars, so accordingly they were named kiro 59/29. In 1988, car # 1 was scrapped after a fire (overheated exhast). The remaining two cars sat until 1992, when JR East took a kiha 58 and modified it to resemble the original consist, just in time for the Japan Expo. Everything was renamed back to Kiha 58/28 as the train was lowered from green to ordinary class.
