Today I did my third public event at a local hobby/pop culture store in my local mall for the 20th anniversary of the Fate/Stay Night series, compared to the last two events, this one didn't do as well as I thought it would, not as much interaction as I wanted, but got some looks, but that's all it. The thought reality of doing this type of event is having enough people to be interested, even though it wasn't Games Galore's fault, I might not display at that store until I figure out what works at that store. My next display event is at the newest anime and pop culture theme convention in my state, Aerie Con!!!

Displaying my anime postcards at the Great Basin Geek Monthly Gathering
Dillon posted a topic in Off Topic
So last week I went to another nerdy pop culture event, run by a group/club in Reno-Sparks on Facebook called the Great Basin Geeks, it's a nice place gathering they held every month with food, basically a potluck. I displayed my postcards for a couple of hours, and the members enjoyed the display of the anime postcards, I enjoyed my time as well, my next event would be a theme postcard display event about the 20th anniversary of the Fate Series Franchise. -
For context: Coffee N Comics is a coffee shop dedicated to pop culture like comics, movies, video games, anime, etc, and I did an anime postcard display event there. My first public event wasn't bad, but it wasn't good, people did come and saw the display, but I felt like there was a miscommunication with the location since they acted confused, and didn't have a table, I'm going to do this event again, but probably be more honest on the communication, but it wasn't bad. 7/10.

For context, I collected many railway prints and postcards for a while now, and I’ve been showing it online for the world to see, but this year I’ve decided to branch out of my collection and started collecting postcards that’s not railroad related, and since anime it’s my favorite part of my life, it’s an easy switch for me. When anime was getting spread out in North America, there were many promotion postcards that were many for specific anime, and many anime booths at anime conventions would hand these out for free, but most of the attendees would throw them away, but sometimes these postcards would also package in dvds as well. But why collect these postcards? Well, it’s the same reason I collect vintage railroad photos and postcards, nostalgic and the love to preserved history, you can say that I’m preserving history of anime being promoted in North America in the 2000s-2010s. These postcards I purchased were brought from eBay, I realized that they were quite expensive, especially since some were from Japan(in good condition), but some were quite expensive, like around $20-$250, but I found a seller that they were selling a lot around $2.99-$4.99 and I was able to got 16 postcards, and they were worth the price. Though, there was a few Anime Expo promotion postcards that were made for anime and video games in recent years, so it’s still being made, which makes me happy that’s there are still are being made for anyone who wants to preserve these items. The plan for these postcards is to display them at conventions and events, like a museum display, at least to show these old anime from the past, and planning to collect more of these postcards to form a nice collection. So yeah, the photos you see in the bottom are stack, so you don’t see the full postcards, but it’s a start, but a nice journey. tldr; I collect old anime promotion postcards and why I collect them for the hobby.
