Hello from the US, my name is Jack, I’ve been a Japanese railroad, and general train enthusiast ever since I was little. I especially have an interest in railroad crossings (no idea why) probably pretty obvious from my page. I love the Shinkansen, and high speed rail in general, but also have an appreciation for Japan’s normal lines. I’m also interested in railroad history, maybe because my country’s were arguably better historically than now. I haven’t been active on this account much in the 4 years I’ve had it but I hope to start using it again!

My wife and I are currently travelling around the world and we love talking exciting new trains. We are originally from the UK but currently in Seoul, S. Korea. We loved the journeys in Sri Lanka, India, Hong Kong, China and now South Korea. Is this a good place to meet like minded people and get some good tips on other exciting train rides? Btw if you are interested we also post videos of our train rides. This was our recent journey on a bullet train from Hong Kong to Mainland China we have heaps more though. https://youtu.be/foklxI1UnV8

Greetings everyone! Some of you may remember me as a moderator on the old JRForum e-mail list on Yahoo! Groups, and I'm also a founding member of a little club you may have heard of, the Japan Rail Modelers of Washington, DC. After 18 years in the DC area I've finally moved back home to New Mexico. (Where did the time go? We were only supposed to be away for three years!) Anyway, being away from my JRM mates, I've decided I better become active here on JNS if I'm going to get my fill of Japanese train related interaction! I've been modeling trains since the mid-1980's, and Japanese trains since 1999. Although I like to get models of any train that piques my interest, I've gradually focused on Tohoku, especially Akita and central Iwate. This focus intensified when I toured the Akita freight yard in 2006, and when I lived in Iwate Prefecture 2007-2009 and watched Tohoku mainline and Tohoku Shinkansen trains run past my house every day. I'm currently "between layouts" due to my recent move, but I'm sure I'll get a new one going soon after we move into our new place towards the end of May. If anyone else is here in or near NM, I'd also love to meet up in person. (I'm temporarily in Cerrillos, but my permanent home will be in Albuquerque.) Nice to meet you all, and I look forward to inspiring conversation here on JNS!
