Who ships stuff like that?

I'm starting to think it might be a standard sized box used either at the FromJapan center or at Japan Post in general, considering it's my second time getting a small item in this type of box.

So FromJapan does, interesting. I wouldn't trust German Post with delivering stuff that way safely to me 😄

Use ZenMarket in the future - cheaper shipping due to better packaging

I bought a set of those. Must have been on your recommendation. I had completely forgotten what they were for. It's been a real mystery for me for quite a while!

you just need to start doing your nails more gavin! The set use to be like 99 cents. They are handy for the transfers and making sure your masking tape edges are nicely pressed down. And when your done you can do your nails nicely with polka dots.

I know! I have to stop relying on these press-on acrylic nails!! I need to spoil myself more! I'm worth it, dammit!

Just arrived from Plaza Japan, as they were the only place willing to sell 3no. on the same order; now to practice micro painting to get them to their prototypical numbers of 1000, 1001 instead of 3no. 1002's

Here is a link for them in their current state under JRF ownership.

Thank you 🙂

Going to need to practice some weathering as well

Got to admit the purchase was inspired by Kamome's posts in the How did you improve your rolling stock thread

Here is my model that I updated to current condition, originally I was thinking about having it unloaded but after seeing the work Kamome has done with his I am tempted to do the same, the only thing that is putting me off is that the transformers that come with it are rather dated and more suited to when these wagons were under Nippon Express ownership.

Saw these and ordered them almost by reflex.

I was looking for a couple of koki wagons anyway. I had pencilled in the idea of 2x Koki 106, since my collection doesn't have any(!), but there is room in my freight sidings for 3 more wagons, and look at this. A Koki 250,000 with tail lights? Sold!

Spending my Hobby Search points almost took the sting out of paying for DHL shipping.

Almost

Yeah, I took a while to decide but really liked the red logo on them. I have a good amount of JNR locos to warrant the older look. It’s amazing what some small additions can do to a reasonably low cost model. The transformers are a bit meh, but way better with some paint and weathering.

Nice weathering on yours. I added a few details that are on the JRF paint scheme that may not be have been on them under JNR. The yellow damper on the rear of the truck and the springs on each truck i picked out because the moulded detail is pretty nice.

My next project is to find some suitable flat wagons and vehicles for a JSDF train to have a few more interesting cargo types.

This guy did a pretty nice job.

Also for some more close up images of the shiki 1000, take a look here. Uh oh Iida line modellers. You need some too!!

You do realise you could buy up to another 5 of the 8741 2 car sets as the 8742 comes with a decal sheet that has another 10 car numbers on it, just sayin.

Tomix 165 series "Moonlight Echigo" by Rail Squid, on Flickr

A Moonlight Echigo set, not traditionally associated with the Chuo Line but it seems they were stabled at Mitaka for Shinjuku departures.

I'm not usually into this kind of train, but that looks really cool. I love the paint scheme!

Tomix produced the M1 as well as the M5 & M6 units as a single set (98941 is in stock at HS right now). They used to run in MU2 or MU3. MA also produced the M2 unit in pink livery. It's a nice livery, but pictures of it are rare.

Very tempting. It's sitting in my cart. I just reserved the Green Max Multiple Tie Tamper, so my "buy-urge" is temporarily sated. We'll see if the balance swings over the next few days. ☺️

I've always managed to resist it. Though I've been tempted a few times.

Btw, what did you meant by "this kind of train"?
