This all seem under control to me, except perhaps Kumaden. I'm surprised that you haven't (yet) expanded to all the other companies plying the region. You are still missing some JR West, Hankyu, Kyoto subway, Kintetsu...

JRF, JR Tokai and Meitetsu can geographically go together but the rest are spread apart, that said I had been tempted to dabble in Hankyu but have managed to dodge a bullet there, I am also tempted by Seibu and Tokyu stock, the later I would only touch the Ikegami Line given the short length of its trains.

I was more thinking of bringing your collection closer to the Keihan Keishin line 😉

Hankyu is quite elegant. One of the nicest liveries around. Strangely enough, I didn't like it as much irl but it looks very good on all models I've seen - Kato, MA, Tomytec.

Strangely enough I was first attracted to them when I saw them in Osaka, when we went to Kyoto I made sure I got to ride them.

Tokyo "Flower 100 series" tram, converted in 2011 from a 7500 series to mark the 100th anniversary of the Tokyo City Transportation Bureau, and withdrawn in 2018.

Hankyu were the first trains I rode in Japan (not including my one time in Tokyo exhibiting at MacWorld 2000 before I got married and was there alone).  My wife is from Amagasaki and Mukonosou Hanky station was the closest station, so the one we used to go to both Kobe and Osaka (Umeda).  It wasn't until later when we started buying JR Passes that we started to go to Tachibana instead and riding mostly JR.  We still ride Hankyu occasionally though our Mukonosou connection is no longer there.

The new Sony Building. Very nice.

Ironically it would make an interesting looking building.

I still think they designed it with the digital only version in mind, figured out rather late that people wanted a drive, and then just slapped it on ...

My first locomotive, a Kato 7011-4 arrived today! I planted some trees for the inaugural photo.

A little video shot on my phone:

Putting on number plates and other suff will have to wait for another day. Those things look a bit scary to a newbie like me. 🙂

This all feels very good, although I'm a bit dissappointed with how easy the engine stalls on points during slow running.

Just take a sharp hobby knife for cutting out the number boards and then either use tweezers to align them and push them in with a finger or wrap a big flathead screwdriver with double sided tape and use that to apply the numbers

🙂

EDIT: Oh and btw, usually you won‘t need any glue, they stay in place tightly by themselves.

Another new arrival, but this time vert much out of region for me. This falls under the category of 'trains I have travelled on'. I used the E227 series a few times when I was staying in Hiroshima, particularly when I travelled along part of the Kure line.

The model has a single power bogie, and is a little noisy, but is a smooth runner. Hopefully it'll quieten down with some running.

I'll add the distinctive cabside cheeks in due course.

And here is the prototype, at Tadanoumi station on the Kure line, September 2019
