Hello folks. How does it come, that the prices are from $200 to $400?Are sellers trying to rip people off, or are there sellers that don't know what they are selling? I am planing on buying it (the $200 one obviously).

And is there a thread that covers trains with prints on them? They look great.

Thanks in advance!!!

Sascha,

Yep its a rarer train hence you will find folks trying to see what the market will bare. $200 is not unreasonable as it's not around a lot. That being said there was one a week or two ago with a buy it now price of I think like $175 which surprised me some.

There is the mother of painted train threads here

Few others as well for painted busses and prototypes as well.

Aha. They are called painted trains. That's why I couldn't find them. Thank you so much Jeff. I did find the Doaremon train for $799 also, and that more than once.

Micro Ace  rare trains are sooo rare.. that's the main reason people sold it with 2-10x more expensive than the real price..

i regret what i did 7 years ago.. i saw full set of second hand Nankai Rapit at 7000 yen and didnt bought it..

Ha another addict is born! Better increase the credit card limit! It's the thing that I have collected the most (along with snow plows for some insane reason, they just look cool I guess) and dropped way to much money on over the years.

The painted sets do tend to sell out quickly and be less in circulation and thus the inflated prices many times when you do find the older ones out there on ebay and some of the Japanese sellers also know less stuff like this on ebay than yahoo.jp auctions so prices go up

Check out the 2-4 car tomytec sets that you can power, there are a number of fun painted ones there that are reasonably priced compared to the big sets. 2 car sets are around $60 with motor, wheels and pantograph upgrades.

Microace also has done a few individual painted dmu cars in the past at not horrid prices.

Cheers,

I'm not a big fan of these, but following one of your links lead me to something I just had to have...

Painted trains are poisonous... And like Jeff mentioned, they usually go off the shelves in an instant and get heavily marked up once the market is void of them... Several big time examples are like the Doremon train Sascha has posted, and the Aso-Boy, Hayato-No-Kaze, Kazeko, Fox-Crab-Squid Kiha-40s etc...
