vacuum former?

So I just discovered that I can build a vacuum former or purchase one for a reasonable price.. It has a couple uses to me outside of model railroading... I'm wondering... is there any common or occasional use for model railroading?

It can be used to form packaging material for small batches of models, where a traditional mold would be too expensive. It's also used for larger scales to form transparent curved parts. Generally it's not precise enough for small scale (H0/N/Z) models.
