Oh well, not the end of the world as our layout won't be ready until next year anyway....

Bill - Thanks for the links, this is the tram that I'm hoping to use on my tram line. The 2nd link I really like in the fact it shows the inside of the tram and how it's constructed.

Cant wait for these! they look sharp and the mechanism price seems to be really good, especially with articulation! if it runs as well as the other tomytec chassis and the finish as nice as in the photos then it'll give modemo a run for their money!

these will be too tempting to get a fleet of!

cheers

I was just going on the prices from the japan model rr site that seemed about par with the other tomytec trams.

~$20 for the tram (non powered)

~$50 for the mechanism (maybe less as usually jmr prices are higher than what you get from japan shops) this is higher than the other tomytec mechanism, but the articulation makes it a lot harder to build...

probably another $5 for for metal pantograph.

hoping the final price will be $60 or so! most of the current tomytec tetsudou conversions are $45-55 once you get the body, motor chassis and finer scale detail parts.

cheers,

jeff

I must have missed it, did they say was the manufacter's price will be?

MLP is 3300 Yen for the TM-LRT01 and 1400 Yen for the cars.

Hobby Search is taking reservations as of today.

Nothing on Hobby World Japan.  They are probably busy at the Shizuoka Hobby Show.

LOL! Bill you are always spot on top of things! $&%^% you for putting that under my nose and tempting me!

Great as it looks to be $45/tram! half of what an articulated modemo usually runs these days!

Hobbyworld is also listing them and at 26% off list for a pre order. oooooh this is just toooo tempting! only about $38 each!!!!! i had to put in the pre order for one of each... sal shipping only 460yen to boot! works out to about $40/tram shipped each!

Wonder if they are providing a nice metal pantograph? in the past they supplied a klunky plastic one, but there is no separate pantograph part listed yet. at least they are only a few bucks to add.

Cant wait to get my Momotetsu m1000 i ordered a week or so back!

cheers,

There you go Jeff.  Always tempted!!! LOL!  I'm not far behind all too often  ;D

Modemo has something interesting coming too.  How about a 3 car Meitetsu 510 class train?

One Japanese dealer also has a N gauge Hankai Tramway 161 car kit in brass coming out.

:o  So much temptation........      :'(

Bill,

It was really way to tempting at under $40 for each thru hobbyworld. they have been doing great discounts on pre-orders, i guess it gets them in good to have a good pre order so they cut their margin down to nothing. was great when they did the 30% off on the galaxy express pre order!

now to just wait till august for them!

thanks for being the tram pusher!

cheers,

jeff

Jeff - Do you mind posting the link to "Hobbyworld pre-order of the tram"? I've never ordered from them before and I didn't see it or missed it in the thread of hobby suppliers.

Yep, this is way to temping to pass up and "dog gone it", the price is good. Now I'm on the fence about ordering 2 of them.  :o

Very interesting, that first link. There are 4 models shown but only 3 are offered, the orange tram isn't listed in reserve at Hobby Search.

Bernard,

Hobbyworld's web site can be very frustrating to find stuff! the categories totally suck. the best way is to use the left hand categories to go to the main N gauge rr then do a browse by manufacturer for the one you are looking for. then you just have go through the pages. you can also go through the advanced search by doing the rr category, n gauge sub category and then your manufacturer (ie tomy). But i also find it fun to go on a hunt for interesting things there. they carry some of the more obscure things and also can backorder stuff that is out of stock most places.

that being said i really like hobbyworld for a few reasons. first they ship SAL! for many things if i just want a few small things its only 480yen shipping! cheaper than getting something w.in the us! i actually like that they take 1-3 weeks usually to show up as its a nice surprise. tracking an ems is fun, but it kind of takes all the surprise out of things. they also give you the shipping cost in your order (this may be why hobbysearch started doing this as well.) they are also great in that if they are out of stock you can backorder the item. things listed as available in a week or less usually show up very fast. if you order a bunch of things with one or two on back order they hold the whole order till its all there! they also dont make you pay until the order is ready to ship. probably done 20-30 orders with them over the last few years and no problems so far!

im now tempted to get the case as well as the tomy train boxes are pretty flimsy affairs.

cant wait to see these guys wiggling on my standard ttrak curves!

perhaps a future tram stop?

looks like more tomytec minivans? the ones on the right look like newer toyota or honda minivans.

Jeff - I and my credit card thank you for the links. I also like the minivans. I agree, Hobbyworld is harder to get around, but having said that, those Trams really look great!

well your cc company thanks me!

i do find doing the hunter gatherer thing at hobbyworld fun now and then! kind of like trying to find that odd part at home despot, but more enjoyable!

their pre order discounts are really great also! forgot they have the 5% bonus point system like hobbysearch does.

one side thing is check your credit cards to see if they charge you an overseas exchange charge. this can be 1-3% and most cards do it. I have one card (capital one) that does not charge this fee at all, so of course thats the only thing that goes on that card. only 1-3% but that can add up!

also helps as since this is all i charge on that card they dont freak out anymore when i charge stuff in japan at times! the first year they security flagged about 1 in 3 japan charges, but have stopped as they only see three companies usually in japan only get charged to it consistently now. when i used cards that i also charged stuff in the us at the same time it would really set off the alarms!

cheers

Jeff - Thanks for all your help, I just placed my order and I do like the method they use for checking out. I was originally going to order just one tram but.....as the old saying goes, "I can resist anything but temptation," so I ordered 2 - It was just too good to pass up.

LOL at first i was thinking of just one, but when i saw that great pre order price i lost all my will power!

also if you have a couple of orders in that you have not been contacted yet to pay for you can email them and ask them to combine the orders and they are happy to do so and reduce the costs.

now we just have to wait till august!

cheers,

jeff

Hey Jeff,

Thank you so much for the link, I was in that website for hours.  The prices are very reasonable, some of the items such as the Kato Overhead Station is cheaper than Tam Tam!

All in all, I have ordered 3 Tomytec Trams and 2 motors, I am thinking I can tag two cars together in my own dream layout to save money <-:P.

I am also buying the new Kato E3, does anyone have one yet?  How does it perform?
