Inspirational Scenery & Layouts

Recommended Posts

A layout that has been displayed at JAM and published in the past.  It is 1960 x 910 using Tomix track with a mountain setting.

The author has a blog called Imperial Railways Blog but I have not found any videos.

Thanks so much for sharing!  I've been a fan of this layout for a while, but I've never been able to find a plan for it!

Yes, it is hard to find layout track plans!

DDF (Diorama Display Factory) is a Japanese commercial layout builder.  I came across a layout that caught my eye. Lots of tunnels, a large station and a train maintenance depot on what appears to be a lower level.

Looks like they also built a clone of the kato showroom layout, anyone know where I could find these cantanary poles?  The look pretty good for a rual 60's feel.

That's your layout in the future Sam!  Aren't those Kato Single Catenary Poles just painted brown and slightly modified - just a guess.

Hopefully!  Huh, I think you're right Junior!  Luckily I happen to have a few on hand, so maybe I'll try painting a few this weekend to see how they look.

I think I posted those links a while back. The layout in question I'm pretty sure is this one which has a lot of nice YT vids:

IIRC DDF uses a lot of their own products, so the catenary poles are probably painted DDF examples.

The Kato Hobby Centre layout is made by Beyond Works IIRC.

Thanks for posting those two layouts, Densha. Both really nice and they've given me some ideas for the interurban layout that I'm working on.

Another professional diorama builder, this one Popo Pro which is part of the Poponettta Group. They have done layouts for the Greenmax store in Nagoya (which is in the same building as a Popondetta store) and JR East.

You can watch them at work from the street, just down from the Poppondetta building: https://goo.gl/maps/sDmVytBftJt

I thought it was part of the Poppondetta store but I didn't know what it was exactly for as I have walked past it a number of times.

I wish I knew Greenmax had a store in Nagoya as I would have visited it when I was there, I went to Hobbyland Pochi which was nothing special and Joshin which had an incredible range for fairly decent prices.
