AmiAmi Character and Hobby

The Kumamoto 6000 train released recently were the same.  Good for our wallet though.  Since they weren't popular before they begun to sell.  I guess someone like AmiAmi get 1000s in, and then cannot move them quickly enough and they fine their way to the for sale section.

The recent die cast buses were 1800 yen.  Then the most newest ones were 2400 yen.  Too pricey.  But now 30% off, I'm interested again.

Yes I monitor Ami sales thread quite often and still I see the Tomix & Kato E3-2000 Tsubasa on sale... The Popondetta buses are those prices are really attractive, but I am coming to the point where I really have too many buses to run... And besides these buses are still a tad more expensive than Tomytec ones so...

Those expensive die cast buses are 30% off in the sale section.  Got my Hakata-Go bus for 1860 instead of 2480. Yay!

And ordered another N Gauge Magazine for 560 yen.  These are very good and I'll do a write up with pics shortly:-

Man... Ami has treasures everywhere that does not necessarily fall into the Sales section:

A very good price indeed!

I'll continue to search carefully.... For hidden treasures... Also, this is getting desperate:

I'm still waiting for the KiHa 75-400/500 to be finally released, they have already released the earlier variants of the class about a week ago so hopefully they will come out soon, mind you the exchange rate is not the best at the moment so I hope that improves before my order is ready.

I've received the payment request from Ami, the Kiha-75 is out!  :)

I often wonder about this one... I have the 92360 and 92361 Hayate but is missing the 92362 3-car add-on set... Wonder if this would fit? The pantographs are different though...

I just had a payment request from AmiAmi.  It was for a total of 7820 yen, and they still offers SAL small packet for 1080 yen.  Normally they have a limit of 6000 yen for unregistered parcels.  Air parcel was 1990 yen and EMS was 2400 yen.

I guess they don't always stick to the rule?  Good for me as it saved me 910 yen. :)

Important Notice Regarding Unregistered SAL Shipment (updated May 14, 2015)

Dear Valued Customers,

Thank you for your continued patronage of AmiAmi. Unfortunately due to increasing trouble with Unregistered SAL shipments, our store is currently in a position where we have no choice but to restrict Unregistered SAL shipments to orders under 8000 JPY in value. Unregistered SAL is no longer selectable when an order’s merchandise total exceeds 8000 JPY.

I recently signed up as a Japanese customer to AmiAmi as they had a Kato DF50 in Brown which many other discounted sellers had sold out of. Postage to my in-laws address was very quick which is my usual method to avoid the criminal "admin" charges for UK postal services. Then I collect or receive on one of many visits within the year.

I was a little worried as I was asked whether I wanted to receive emails with adult content. I declined but wondered if my relationship with my wife's mum and dad would be marred by some pornograhic anime images turning up with my locomotive.

Nothing has been mentioned when my mother-in-law handed me the item today and no looks of disgust, apart from the usual expected by son-in-laws.

The thing about Ami is that they do sell some adult stuff, like sex toys and adult manga and such, hence the need to ask if one wanted to receive emails with adult content. They do not include these in the postage though. The postcard they included in each package as a nice little welcome gift when you open the box is mostly nice cartoon graphics, often in relation to the season now, like winter or summer or autumn etc. I have over 10 parcels from Ami without anything adult in the box to date so I guess they handled things well ~

Cheers!

Likewise, nothing adult related in packages that have arrived, just the invoice stuck to the outside of the box and the latest Tomytec/Tomix flyer inside with a thank you note

I must admit I was very impressed by the speed of service. Their catalogue of railway stuff is pretty reasonable so I will definitely look at them for future purchases in addition to my usual points of call.

Poppondetta and Yodabashi were out of this item with no expected delivery and Tam Tam no longer allow non Japanese IP addresses to view their website.

No great loss, Tam Tam may have a good range of model rail gear but their customer service is far from the best, I remember asking the snobbish prick of a manager about international online ordering and he said that he did not need the business, next time I go back to Tokyo I will be spending more time in Poppondetta and Volks as they want to help their customers.

Wow that was rude of Tam Tam to say that...

Anyhow, Popondetta and Volks are good too, not forgetting Hobbyland Pochi and my personal favourite Yodobashi...  Also, Ami now has a physical store too!

I'm hoping on going back in March/April next year it just depends on if the ¥ stays at it's current strength or drops to a more palatable level, I definitely want to go and check out AmiAmi's store if I go as I have done many an order with their online store and have been pretty happy with the service I get from them.

I know what you mean. Although I've never had rude service, Tam Tam customer service is relatively poor by Japanese standards. I've not been to the Akihabara branch for a few years as there's one south of Fukuoka where my wife is from. It's in a pretty old run down looking mall but usually has an ok selection. Poppondetta in Hakata is always exceptional service whereas you occasionally get slightly annoyed looking staff in Yodabashi if they have to open a glass cabinet for you.
