Do those Illumi lights have multiple LEDs per strip? That's the main problem with the Kato and Tomix lights, they're noticeably brighter on 1 end.. As for there not being Kato compatible Illumi strips, might be due to patenting/licensing issue?

Also, never knew the MicroAce boxes list which type of light strip the train needs, always wondered about that ;)

illumi lights are very similar to Tomix interior lights 0734 (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10064215) or any other Tomix lights. Judging from the videos I've taken, they are somewhat similar to Tomix, being slightly brighter on one end. They are however in my opinion, much better than Kato's lights as Kato interior lights come with a single bulb and one have to affix the light tube correctly. This cause more lights on one end (the bulb end) and sometimes NO lights on the other (light tube end). Having said that, it's also harder (I feel) to install, more steps to do and sometimes can be frustrating if the light bulb assembly doesn't want to hold in place at their brackets....

Yap MA boxes are great, you get to know what light you need without even doing anything! Not to forget their boxes are also more colourful, with so many colour variations unlike Kato's green and Tomix's blue...
