The last wamu train 2012/03/17

We've established that these were the last boxcars in revenue service in Japan but are they also the last 4 wheel freight cars?

I think this is a more significant event than the last runs of the 300 series. One bright spot on the Japanese freight scene is that containers seem to be getting more colourful in recent years.

Departing Yoshiwara Station:

At Fuji Station:

BB, was this the last train? Was it empty or loaded? What will happen to the cars (scrapping of course, but where?)? Will the Nippon Daishowa plant continue operating and how will the ship, by road?

Cheers NB

Colourful and somewhat more varied, with gondola, tanker, covered hopper and sheet steel/steel rod carrier containers. Trouble is these containers seem to operate in more localized areas. Maybe instead of chasing the Gakunan you could consider trying to track down what trains carry these special containers. AFAIK the sheet-steel carriers start/end their trips on the Nagoya Rinkai, so you could start from there.

If these were taken around Fukui, then the train (probably) is bound for Matto near Kanazawa where AFAIK JRF has carshops.

The local farmers might end up with some cheap farm sheds. On the road from Nemuro to Cape Nosappu there are four wheel refrigerator cars everywhere. The landscape around Kanazawa might be dotted with blue wamus.

More deadheading WaMus. Check out the sounds!

WaMu is forwarded blue freight train [Oka] EF210-13 to tow.

Wham cargo transport for the paper was abolished in the 2012 timetable revision,

Shin'nan'yo journey all the way toward forwarding seems to have been (? Evacuation).

Seen and cargo in local Wamuhachi No way did not even think.

Gachagacha and wagons and make a sound played by freight car passing on two-axis sound was impressive.

On nozomi #9 right now, bound for Nagoya. Passing through Shizuoka there were still a bunch of surplus wamus still in the yard at Shizuoka freight terminal.
