Shogun, hello!

This website is itself a good starting point. Could you tell us more about the services you provide or what your blog is about?

Captain

I've decided to run a heritage rail tour of the UK, for the Japanese.

It includes trips to Stephenson’s Rocket, Puffing Billy, Locomotion, Sans Pareil, Mallard, Green Arrow and possibly The Flying Scotsman if they repair it in time. The only Shinkansen outside of Japan? York NRM and many more.

Also a trip to the Stockton – Darlington railway; the world’s oldest passenger line. Together with trips on the heritage lines made famous by the Bronte Sister, JK Rowling and James Herriot to write their masterpieces?

All in Japanese, all fully escorted by railway men and professional guides.

My blog is developing all the time and as I’m developing the tour I’m putting some photos of the sites visited - for example we have a steam engine exhibition at the London Science museum currently - the James Watt, Richard Trevithick, inventions.

Personally I have 30 years as a railway manager and 20 year visiting Japans railways.

So i think it’s an interesting tour for many enthusiasts.

Please get in touch on yjls @sky.com if you want further details.

Shogun,

Sounds like an interesting enterprise, but unfortunately for you perhaps, our actual Japanese readership is quite small. You'd do better advertising on more mainstream Japanese-language sites such as Mixi, or contacting various Japanese-language blogs (many of which are linked here among various different posts).

Captain,

Thanks - I've also negotiated with one railway the opportunity to drive a loco on a 1897 line.

Plus I've found the blueprint of the 1st loco built by the Japanese engineers- given by Britain- it’s in the York NRM. Only 65 years between that and the Shinkansen! So i think many Japanese will be very interested in the tour.

It’s the sites I'm looking for - I don't know which are the good ones. I'm aiming for a broad interest group as essentially there are 4 tour segments - railway history-literary history, driving opportunity and the UK experience in Olympic year, so it may disappoint some of the more specific rail enthusiasts who want 7 days of number taking.

It’s a new idea so i have to post on a mainstream groups page. Any opinions as to which those are the best are most welcome.

Once I've got a few of these tours underway I'm looking to reverse the trip, British to Japan - As many have asked me to help with a trip to JR as to railwaymen its so spectacular - 40 years ahead of the UK now. Its why we're buying Hitachi.

As the station master at Osaka told me “once the student now the master” very true.
