I mentioned this once some months ago, but since then we have gained many new Aussie members. So I'll mention it again :D

I'm gonna be in Brisbane for the (entire) month of July with my wife and my baby girl. Anyone else here think they might be in that neck of the woods sometime about then? I'd love to meet up for lunch or the like.

Yup -  I'm in Sydney also and I can not see myself being in Brisbane during that time - my first child is due at the end of the month so I guess that rules me out for any travel!!! :-\

Congratulations!

I don't know if a short trip down to Sydney is possible, but I'll see…

What date in July ? We are due 28th July. Over the moon is an understatement!!

Chris - Congratulations on being a Dad.

Just wondering, is there a Sydney Train Club?

Thanks Bernard - it is very exciting....and scarey at the same time! :D :-\

I'm not a member of any club but I do know there are some N Scale clubs around....specialised Japanese ones I really don't know - can anyone enlighten the situation?

Capt, make sure to ride (or at least photograph) Queensland Rail's Tilt Train- the fastest trains in Australia and the closest thing to JR Shikoku's 2000 series DMU without going to Japan!

We were going to ride it to Cairns until we saw the price and the time required…I'll see if I can photograph it though, thanks!

I would like to do this, though!

Don - You're going to Cairns! That is such a beautiful area and I hope you are going to the Great Barrier Reef. They have jet boats tours which includes scuba diving (and intro to scuba if you never went diving before) What you will see underwater will be a life time experience. I envy you!

Bernard: We were going to Cairns. It's too expensive, so I don't think we will. But we will see the reef! That's for sure. And ride a steam excursion train :D

Alpine: We'll be leasing some yes; the ones we have don't work in Oz. As soon as we have a number, which, God willing, should be the same day we arrive (3rd), I'll PM you the number. Can you recommend a telcom?

No problems Don. Looking forward to it mate.

All of the telecos are pretty much the same. I'd buy a pre-paid sim card that you can recharge Vodafone is as good as any I guess.

Doug - I am PM you with info on another club in Australia. I haven't received permission yet to put their link on the forum so I won't.
