What's in Your Roster?

Well I have been very lazy of late when it comes to the good olde "What did you order or the post deliver" thread, I just haven't had the motivation to post in it of late, I will make amends of sort by making an update to what's in my roster. My JR Tokai fleet has had another two trains added with the 313-5000/5300 Series and 211-6000 Series added to the fleet, whilst my Meitetsu fleet has had a major injection with a further four trains added with the Limited Express 1800 Series and 3100 Series, 6000 Series, 6800 Series for local services joining the roster, the Keihan Otsu-sen has also had another 600 Series added to the ranks.

The latest update since october 2020...

A few new and older models have been added. But lately I have been wondering whether I really need every model of the JR Hokkaido. The biggest problem is the non-existent model railway layout. I use only the double-track oval to move the vehicles...

Hi Folks,

I really love my JR EH-500 3rd Gen. I'll probably purchase a 2nd Gen. for making a multi-unit with my Koki 107.

EH500_1.thumb.jpg.28d55c9f31e2e69f897da0e1a306f4fe.jpg

The short coupler is great, as long as you curves are reasonables.

EH500_2.thumb.jpg.6851e9e4cc1d6179a7710b93c183a819.jpg

I love all those roof details, antennas, etc ... as well as the front handrails, etc ...

I'm using paper glue for sticking the plate number. Zooming to the max on photo #1 : I need to clean it (wich is really easy with a humid Q-tip).

As the Japan Yen is not expensive in Euro, it's an affordable pleasure (esp. when delivered by RG-ROKKO).

  • JR East changed the title to My beloved EH-500

I must say I got some doubts ... With JRF logo or not. Eventually it was ...

With the JRF logo for my EF 64-1000. I love all these small details, springs of the damper system, antenna, handrails, and detailed printings such as the underlined black "windows" on the roof. Of course, the EF64 is a bit "boxy" but with this layout, it breaks the boxy look & feel.

1711157491_EF64-100.thumb.jpg.5ca5f3762fb0a7589f5498d7fad306e8.jpg

And without the JRF logo for my DF200-200. So that, the Red Bear logo is highlighted and fits to the 'streamlined' look of this DF200-210.

Background is a (part of a) photo I shot in 2018 at Brighton Beach Avenue Station on the B/Q line to Coney Island. If you zoom in using the satellite view, you'll see exactly where I was when I shot this picture.

Hey Guys 😄

My list is as of April (since then many deliveries have come in again). I'm slowly running out of space (and according to the list there are now over 4 Million Yen .....). I Think i Made Tomorrow a New Picture 🤪 But there are no single wagons here! I finally have to list them.

Wow. That’s quite a collection.

Thanks for the ammo. If the wife complains, I can show her this picture and remind her i don’t have a problem.

At least new n scale acquisitions are easier to hide than HO ones.

“No dear, i’ve had those 12 large coach boxes in that new storage container for ages!”

Yes even with n scale it’s best to spread things out and not have bookshelves full in one swing of the eye!

ha, there is something great, its a key! 😛 for the steel cabinet.

By the way, here is the current listing WITHOUT the delivery yesterday, The Container and a few Locos. really now, I urgently need more space or I am not allowed to shop so much anymore

That doesn't work in my house.

The plus side of being married to a railway worker is that she's genuinely interested in trains.

The minus side is that she knows what she's looking at, what's old and what's new... 🤨

All the best,

Mark.

Got to love those Tomix art boxes. Makes things easy to find. My stock is 99% Kato so I have to read labels to find what i’m looking for.

The Kato HO is worse when you have to locate 12 green boxes of coaches in a stack of other green boxes of different coaches.

The small pictures that MicroAce put on the spines are also a great help, I wish KATO did that as well.

Yeah, that's why my trains either live in the display cabinet, or in labelled storage/transport boxes. I don't keep the original boxes any more, otherwise I'd have no room left for the trains! 🙄

All the best,

Mark.

OK, it's about time I updated this - I had just done my Marklin collection so since the N scale stuff is a different page on the same spreadsheet, I thought I'd go update that too. Anything in italics is either A.) a pre-order or B.) on its way to New Zealand.

image.thumb.png.e35ae127ec8af1b4ea4892dbfa12012c.png

I can well sympathize with @Kamome and @marknewton about how difficult it can be to store H0-scale stock, especially when all the boxes look the same. Luckily for me, Marklin usually puts an image of the locomotive/carriage/wagon in question on one end of the box so that kinda helps since I also keep all of my H0 stock in its original boxes. Though that doesn't stop me running out of space - I have (at present and including stuff I've ordered) 40 locomotives, 73 coaches, and 135 goods wagons. Phew! Small railway company territory!

My issue is usually which needle am i looking for in the pile of needles.

I have 26 of the 24 series blue train coaches. 12 as part of a Nihonkai/Tsurugi formation, 14 as a Fuji/Hayabusa.

4 are in a set so easy to find, but the rest are all in green boxes with the relevant model name. Just not easy at a quick glance. What I probably need is a head mark icon on each box and the coach number. Fuji, coach 5 or Tsurugi coach 8.

I also have 19 of the JNR Kiha 80 coaches in various guises. Again 4 are part of a 4 car set, 7 are part of a Kiha 81 Tsubasa consist and 12 as a Kiha 82 Matsukaze with 4 cabs, all with similar box descriptions.

I have made some carry cases courtesy of Shigemon and materials from the ¥100 store which I use to transport my stock to rental layout. My only issue with keeping them in these boxes is how likely the foam is to degrade over the years and leave residue on my models. The foam is cheap draught exclusion foam tape which i have seen it leaving marks on sliding doors after many years.

So currently, my models are transported in these cases and then put back in their relevant boxes after use.

I highly suggest starting a spreadsheet now while it's still manageable.  Nice collection.

I actually have one for DCC decoder type and adress so I spare myself at some point to have them read-out all the time, might as well branch from there then 🙂

I'm terrified to see the total cost if it.. That's why my online database project isn't on top of my priority list 😄
