Oh wait... did I see a 12-car set going for 49,600 yen? That's 4130 yen per car! And i'm sure 12 interior lights don't cost as much as 10,800 yen...

What's with the new sound unit for the station? Was there a change over the previous version? It disappointed me as a lot of the regular and well known melodies are not included...

The 185 series has 15 cars? Thats the first time I have seen such a long passenger Train in Japan.

Really? Hayabusa/Komachi Shinkansen combinations top out at 17, and many of the longer-distance commuter lines in the Tokyo area run with 15.

Where have you been?

16 car Shinkansen trains are common especially Tokyo-Osaka

15 car trains are the norm on the Shonan Shinjuku line.

Well I have made my first tentative steps into Kyushu with my wife asking me to order the Yellow 01 Series with the Kuma wrapping, I also ordered the Silver one for good measure, given there is no phyical connection to any other railways especially JR Kyushu that should keep me out of trouble, I dodged a bullet before as she was eyeing off the Seven Stars before.

Well you learn something new every day, but I have never seen a set where you needed to buy 4 sets to get the complete Train.

You do realize you don’t actually have to buy the full train, don’t you?

What?  Blaspheme!  Clearly even if you only have room for a 4 car train, you still need to get the full set!   Maybe even a second one, just in case...

But you know there are 7-8 Tomytec Kumaden trains available to purchase right? 😄

All the E217 E231 E233 Shonan Takasaki Sobu Narita Kato and Tomix 15 car trains need 4 sets to complete etc.

I won't be chasing down anything on Yahoo auctions this time, I will only purchase what is available in store.

That still gives you 4-5. haha edit//  Just checked HS, actually one.  But I'm sure the Kumamon 6000 is in stock somewhere.

I did order them also.  These Tomytecs are getting even more expensive.  Luckily I have 6 weights and about 10-12 black coupler sets unused from TM-20 motors.  All that I needed to do was buy a few packs of 300 yen Tomix wheels.

I'm excited for the 90th Anniversary Shintetsu train ... hope they do the green/white one as well (although they'll need a new mould for the center car of that one)

Is it just me, or why does the Kumamoto train looks very familiar... It used to be a Tokyo Metro Ginza Line train?

Four Tokyo Metro 01 series driving cars (01-136, 01-636, 01-135, 01-635) acquired in 2015, regauged to 1067mm with Kawasaki EFwing bogeys, added pantographs and rear wiew mirrors and refitted for one-man operation.

I understand it's a Limited Edition, 12 car set and with interior lighting but aside from all that, what makes it worth this much - $458?

https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10560439

If i understand right, you actually receive 3 separate trains, two with their own motors and one expansion set. All with head/tail lights, but you can switch off each cab in a consist. That's two motor cars, 6 cab cars, internal lights in all cars and TN couplers added. You can run the set as one 12 car consist or as a 6 + 6 or 9 + 3 or 6 + 3 separate sets. It's still an average of 17000 yen / subset though which is pretty high for a 3 or 6 car HG set.
