Wasn't sure if this was the right topic to post in, but just got a DVD from japan, which consists of a helicopter flyover of Tokyo on 02/11/2010. It goes for around 80 minutes and does 3 cirlces of roughly the area of the Yamanote line loop and inside at a height of around 200m. Needless to say, you can also see most of the big stations and the trains on many lines (even a freight train around Shinjuku). Excellent source of info if you are modelling japanese city scenes or if you just want to see exactly how densely pack Tokyo really is. There are also english subtitles of the 'suburb names' as well as major buildings/landmarks etc.

interesting way to shoot a video, like the areal HD europe tours on the smithsonian channel. im always doing this sort of fly over in google maps on the cities with the satellite views. not as pretty or as 3D as a dvd, but interesting to follow a street or zig zag around a neighborhood to see how they are laid out and transition to other types of areas.

cheers

And keep in mind that http://www.bing.com/maps/ (feature: "Bird's eye view") offers awesome aerial images of Tokyo as well.

Is there a list of what areas have the "Bird's Eye View"?
