This Monday was unique in Japan as the date if reckoned according to the imperial calendar renders (Heisei) 22.2.22  Many people bought platform tickets as these are printed with the date they are issued:

I also bought one at my local station, just a regular one from the ticket machine, but just as good as the "commemorative" ones that people had to line up for in places like Osaka:

Yeah, my gf also told me about this. Luckily for her I don't collect tickets, as I'd let her buy me a Shimodate-station ticket.

Platform tickets make good travel momentos, especially if you like to to keep a travel diary/scrapbook.
