cteno4
I enjoy the mighty trains show, but the host puts my teeth on edge. Thanks fox for pushing the in your face over enthusiastic hosts on us now, sadly it’s become the norm now. Hype comes before content these days. jeff Link to comment
bc6
The host was a bit out there that's for sure, I appreciated the technical aspects of the video a lot. Im not sure if anyone noticed but John from the YouTube channel "Only In Japan" was there and his wife which was interesting as well. 1 Link to comment
cteno4
The mighty trains series is still repeated here on the smithsonian channel in the us on cable. It had 4 seasons with 6 shows a season. Hit a lot of the big train rides around the world. First one was glacier express and second was shinkansens! jeff Link to comment
RS18U
I enjoyed the video, even with the exuberant host. Maybe I did not hear right, or it was a translation thing, but the statement by one of the train crew about the switchback at Okoba being the only one on Kyushu I think is wrong? Isn't there one at Tateno Station as well? I hope so since we rode it last March! Maybe they just meant on this one line? 2 Link to comment
lighthouse
Yes, you are right! Okoba Station, Tateno Station and Masaki Station are the only one switchback stations in service in Kyushu. here you can find more informations: https://www5f.biglobe.ne.jp/~switchback/tateno.htm https://www5f.biglobe.ne.jp/~switchback/okoba.htm https://www5f.biglobe.ne.jp/~switchback/masaki.htm 2 Link to comment

And your right, at least for the one we did at Tateno as the driver moved from one end to the other then back for the maneuver. Link to comment
