Now that you have caught the Japanese train bug, there are lots of helpful people to help you get deeper into it! N may be the best combo to start out in if beginning, it has the most stuff in Japanese rail, is relatively inexpensive, easily sourced, and doesn’t take up too much room. But poke around the forums here you will see folks talking around T to O scale here, so a wide range of possibilities. cheers jeff Link to comment
