Unitram layout plan and build

Ghost

Recommended Posts

You would need track including switches and crossovers. Unfortunately, Unitram switches have been out of stock for several years.

Parts as listed by Hobby Search.

https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/list/605/6/1

You would need two power packs and feeder cables.

With a diagram that small it is not possible to determine which pieces are needed.

This is a third level layout from the Kato Japan website.

OK. That was a project I was working on. Here is a larger version of the plan.  I created the track plan with Anyrail. Here is a list of the track pieces.

TWR180L, N Kato Unitram, 40-101. Curve angle 45º (double plate track)                6
TWR180R, N Kato Unitram, 40-102. Curve angle 45º (double plate track)               6
TWS124, N Kato Unitram, 40-020. Straight 124mm. (double plate track)                2
TWS186, N Kato Unitram, 40-010. Straight 186mm. (double plate track)                4
TWS62, N Kato Unitram, 40-031. Straight 62mm. (double plate track)                    4
TWT180L, N Kato Unitram, 40-210. Double left turnout angle 45º (double plate track)    2
TWT180R, N Kato Unitram, 40-211. Double right turnout angle 45º (double plate track)    2

This will involve  some wiring and power blocks a stage I never got to.  Project was scrubbed because I did not have the space to comfortably operate the layout in my condo. No basement space here.

This is a simpler version without any reverse loop issues. Basically it is two loops with alternate cutbacks.  The hard part will be finding the switches. I have a smaller version that could use new switches, but every time I look there's nothing.

The parts list:

TWR180L, N Kato Unitram, 40-101. Curve angle 45º (double plate track)                    6
TWR180R, N Kato Unitram, 40-102. Curve angle 45º (double plate track)                    6
TWS124, N Kato Unitram, 40-020. Straight 124mm. (double plate track)                      2
TWS186, N Kato Unitram, 40-010. Straight 186mm. (double plate track)                      4
TWS62, N Kato Unitram, 40-031. Straight 62mm. (double plate track)                         4
TWT180L, N Kato Unitram, 40-210. Double left turnout angle 45º (double plate track)    2
TWT180R, N Kato Unitram, 40-211. Double right turnout angle 45º (double plate track)    2

Look for these kits for the Plates. Then go through and verify the track. Like Bill said the switch are hard if not impossible to get.

40-811 just released

40-820 possible

40-210 211   L R Switches nearly impossible

What would be the simpler version that you have the layout for and could you add the tracks and all the parts that I need to put it together….. I have now the starter set and 2 transformers and i want add to it.

The simpler version I have now is built on a 36 x 24 garage table. The road markings are sanded off. it uses Euro details and buildings. Most of the buildings are second hand from Europe.

That looks great, That’s definitely what I’m looking to go for with my Layout…. So in that earlier post those are all the tracks that I need to complete this layout that you’re showing me now, also where did you purchase the buildings I can’t find them on eBay and the Internet is very scarce

Thank you.

I search for N scale town house, many of the buildings are old Pola kits now sold by Faller.  I have a 3/16 balsa base under the scenery, but there is not base under the Unitram track. It just sits on the garage unit base.

One of my sources was www.modellbahn-shop.online in Germany.

Rocket Railways in the UK has some too.
